PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation at the University of Alberta offers the students and community over 37 facilities and amenities including gymnasiums (3), multi-purpose studios (5), lecture theaters and classrooms (9), fitness centre, climbing centre, aquatic centre (two pools), lounges, a large social street atrium and the Dorothy Harris Dance Studio.

Cdn. Power Pac was contracted by Delnor Construction to provide the following electrical services on the power upgrade project:

  • Distribution upgrade to existing VVU;
  • Supply and install the new 600V & 120/208V distribution to existing VVU branch panels;
  • Revise existing system to run on temporary power while existing vault is demolished and the new substation is built; and
  • Schedule and conduct multiple shutdowns of temporary power connections.

As the facilities are occupied during construction and Cdn. Power Pac is upgrading and integrating the old equipment and systems, we collaborate the complex scheduling, shutdowns and phasing with building and occupant schedules. To ensure safety and minimize disruptions, Cdn. Power Pac coordinates necessary activities after hours and weekends.
